How a note is sourced, dated, corrected and kept separate from anything the desk might be paid for.

Every note on this site names its sources at the end. Those sources are the published standards, the building regulations and the government guidance that the desk actually read: Approved Document M, BS 8300, the Equality Act 2010 and its code of practice, the guidance published for Changing Places toilets, and the figures a highway authority or an operator publishes itself. Where a question is not settled by any of them, the note says so.
Each note carries the date it was last checked. That date is not decoration: it orders the front page, it feeds the sitemap and it dates the item in the feed. A note is dated again when a standard changes or a reader sends a correction with a source.
It carried from 2008 to 2019 the site of Gateshead Access Panel, and in 2022 a blog of gambling and gaming posts that had nothing to do with that body. What it keeps from the address is the subject: getting into places, measured and written down.
